Ranveer Singh’s recent spy thriller franchise, Dhurandhar, has been making waves at the global box office, crossing the Rs 3,000 crore mark. Amidst the massive commercial success of the project, Ranveer's father-in-law, former badminton legend Prakash Padukone, has shared his thoughts on the film.
While Prakash offered high praise for the technical craft and the performances in the movie, he also pointed out a specific aspect that felt excessive to him. Speaking to The Indian Express, he said, “It's a great film. It's a very well-made film with good acting by everybody. We felt there was a little bit too much violence, but the majority of people liked it, so I think that's more important.”

The Dhurandhar franchise, which is based on an Indian intelligence mission involving an undercover operative named Hamza Ali Mazari, has been a massive success in theatres. The first part, released on December 5, 2025, collected over Rs 1,328 crore worldwide. Its sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, hit screens on March 19 and has earned close to Rs 1,800 crore globally. The film features an ensemble cast, including Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi. It is written, directed, and produced by Aditya Dhar, and co-produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar.
Apart from the box office success, Prakash also shared insights into his bond with his son-in-law. Highlighting their close-knit family dynamic, he said, “We do spend a lot of time together. In fact, both families are very close. At least once a year, we go on vacation together. There are a lot of common interests, as he's very interested in sports. He keeps talking to me about sports, and I keep asking him about movies as I want to learn about the business.”
