Aamir Khan recently launched the trailer of his son Junaid Khan's upcoming film, Ek Din, with Sai Pallavi. In a recent interview, Khan opened up about the film and said that Junaid does not consult him before signing any project. He also called Junaid a 'strong-willed' person and added that he is more like a friend to his children, Junaid, Ira and Azad.
The Lagaan actor told Variety India, "As for Junaid, I think he is just like me! He has a sharp sense of cinema, a script, and editing, and he is quite strong-willed." He continued, "And one more thing. Junaid does not consult me about anything he takes on. I believe he has signed two films, one of which is with Ektaa Kapoor. He decides these things himself, and that's great."
In the same interview, Khan was asked whether Ek Din is about Alzheimer's condition, similar to Saiyaara, to which he rubbished the assumption and called the film 'completely different.' The actor also described the film as a classic love story that people have not seen in a long time.
Meanwhile, the trailer of Ek Din shows Junaid's character explaining a fortune bell that grants a wish for true love when the bell is rung. As he speaks, he looks at Sai Pallavi’s character, Meera, and quietly wishes that she could be his. He says he wants his wish to come true even if it's for one day. His wish does come true, but things go haywire soon after.
It is directed by Sunil Pandey and is based on the 2016 film One Day. While Ek Din is Junaid's second theatrical release after Loveyapa, this film marks Sai Pallavi's Bollywood debut. The film will be released in theatres on May 1.
