Aishwarya Rajinikanth Announces Next Directorial

After carving her own path behind the camera over the last decade, Aishwarya Rajinikanth has officially locked her next directorial venture. The yet-untitled film will be mounted by producer Kannan Ravi under the banner of KRG Productions, with Deepak Ravi onboard as co-producer.

The announcement was made via the production house’s social media pages, accompanied by a detailed note outlining their vision for the collaboration. The statement read, "We are a production house that firmly believes cinema thrives on meaningful collaborations, as filmmaking is truly a collective art built on shared vision, passion, and trust. With immense pride and excitement, Kanna Ravi Groups is delighted to announce our collaboration with Ms Aishwarya Rajinikanth for KRG Group's Production No 9."

The producers further revealed the scale of the project, adding, "This ambitious project is planned as a grand multi-lingual release in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi, reaching audiences across the nation. Conceived as a wholesome and sure-shot entertainer, the film promises to deliver a powerful and engaging cinematic experience for viewers of all backgrounds. We feel honored to present this prestigious venture and look forward to creating something truly memorable for audiences everywhere."

On Friday, the makers added another key piece to the puzzle, announcing that Yuvan Shankar Raja will compose the music for the film. The collaboration marks a reunion between Aishwarya and Yuvan, who previously worked together on Vai Raja Vai.

Aishwarya first stepped into direction with 3, a psychological romantic drama that has since gained cult status. She followed it up with Vai Raja Vai, a crime thriller starring Gautham Karthik and Priya Anand, where Yuvan’s music played a crucial role in shaping the film’s slick, urban tone.

In 2017, she directed Cinema Veeran, spotlighting the lives of stunt artistes in Tamil cinema. Most recently, she helmed Lal Salaam, which featured her father Rajinikanth in an extended cameo appearance.

This new venture, positioned as a large-scale entertainer, appears to combine her evolving narrative sensibilities with a broader commercial ambition. With Yuvan Shankar Raja returning to her creative fold and KRG Productions banking on the momentum of Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil, which reportedly collected Rs 39.5 crore worldwide according to Sacnilk, expectations are firmly on the rise.
