Being Cyrus, Cocktail, Finding Fanny and the recent Angrezi Medium seem like works of different filmmakers. But this wonderful medley of movies has been directed by the talented Homi Adajania. The maverick filmmaker says he’d get bored if he were to make a film in his comfort zone. His last release, Angrezi Medium won rave reviews but it had to suffer a pause due to the outbreak of the coronavirus and the resultant lockdown.
His next is the web series, Saas Bahu Aur Cocaine, which spotlights women running a cocaine cartel. The series, based in Kutch, will be funny, gritty and bold. He elaborates, “The story is bizarre and dark. It’s about a family of women, who seemingly run an embroidery business in Kutch. The business in fact is just a front for the biggest cocaine cartel in South Asia. The men in the family have no clue about it as they work abroad.” Homi’s all praise for his producer Dinesh Vijan. “What I love about Dinesh is that he pushes me into things, which he believes only I’ll be able to pull off,” he says with a glint of well-earned pride. Well, Saas Bahu Aur Cocaine has already got us excited.
