The third instalment of the Welcome franchise, Welcome to the Jungle, directed by Ahmed Khan, has made a good start at the box office. Released in theatres on June 26, the multi-starrer comedy has opened to positive figures, successfully crossing the Rs 29 crore mark in worldwide gross collections on its very first day.
The film, which features an ensemble cast including Akshay Kumar alongside Suniel Shetty, Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Aftab Shivdasani, and Jackie Shroff, had generated buzz leading up to its release.
According to the data, the film’s financial performance began with paid preview shows held a day before its official theatrical release, which contributed Rs 3.75 crore. Following this, Sacnilk reports indicate that the film earned Rs 15 crore on its opening day across 10,892 shows. Combined with the previews, the total India net collection stands at Rs 18.75 crore, while the total India gross collection reached Rs 22.50 crore. When factoring in the Rs 6.50 crore gross collected from overseas markets, the worldwide gross total stands at Rs 29 crore. The film recorded an overall occupancy of 26.46% on its opening day.

Loosely based on the Hollywood satirical comedy Tropic Thunder, starring Robert Downey Jr., Welcome to the Jungle has received mixed but mostly positive reviews. Audience feedback shared on social media suggests that while viewers enjoyed the humour in the theatres, many felt the content lacked originality, mentioning that the makers relied heavily on jokes and character references from previous films in the franchise. Some viewers expressed that the film banks largely on nostalgia, with little beyond a handful of gags to keep audiences entertained.

Despite the criticism about the script, the performances of veteran actors Farida Jalal and Kiran Kumar were appreciated by audiences. As the film continues its run, it remains to be seen how it sustains its momentum at the box office.
