
The highly-anticipated sequel to Nayanthara's 2020 blockbuster Mookuthi Amman was formally launched at a special event that was held in Chennai on March 6. The star-studded event was attended by its director Sundar C as well as its lead star, along with many other film personalities, which was available to the public via live streaming.

Nayanthara Delivers Her First Shot
Nayanthara was welcomed on stage with a roaring applause at the event. Dressed in a bright red saree, the actor delivered her first shot for the film by paying obeisance to an Amman deity.
Speaking to the media at the event, producer Ishari Ganesh spoke about Nayanthara's preparation for the role. He said, "Mookuthi Amman is a divine role. So, she went on fasting for a month. Her children have been fasting for the last week" he said.
'The Biggest Film In My Career', Says Sundar C
At the event, director Sundar C thanked the producer for blessing the film with its massive reported 100cr+ budget. He said, "I hope this goes on to become one of the biggest films made in India, and the grand pooja launch is proof. This is the biggest film in my career."
Mookuthi Amman, The Film
The story of Mookuthi Amman revolves around a struggling reporter named Engels Ramasamy, played by RJ Balaji, who teams up with a local goddess (Nayanthara) to expose a fake godman named Bhagavathi Baba (Ajay Ghosh), who is fooling and exploiting their community in the name of God. Also starring Moulee, Urvashi, and Smruthi Venkat, Mookuthi Amman released directly on Disney+ Hotstar in 2020 to much critical acclaim and commercial success.

The music is being composed by Hiphop Tamizha. Gopi Amarnath, who had previously worked with Sundar C for Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru and Aambala, is the cinematographer of Mookuthi Amman 2. The sequel will be co-produced by Sundar C-Khushbu Sundar's Avni Cinemax Pvt Limited, Nayanthara-Vignesh Shivan's Rowdy Pictures, and Ivy Entertainment.
