Suriya's pan-India film Kanguva is off to a good start at the box office. The Siva directorial stars the south superstar in a double role along with Bobby Deol, Disha Patani, Yogi Babu and others. As per early estimates, the film earned Rs 22 crore net approximately on Day 1. This made Kanguva the third-highest opening Tamil film this year, the other being Thalapathy Vijay's GOAT and Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan. This also marked Suriya's best-ever opening.
This reincarnation drama has been made on an estimated budget of over Rs 350 crore. It follows two timelines, the current one and a timeline from thousands of years ago. Suriya plays the titular character, who is a tribal warrior prince and his reincarnation who is a bounty hunter in Goa. The makers hired experts from Hollywood for the technical departments like action and cinematography.
