It's hardly surprising that many of the A-list guests of the evening chose to pay respect to his work with their own outfits since the Met Gala in 2023 recognised the tremendous legacy of the late designer Karl Lagerfeld. The best dressed of the lot were those who found distinctive ways to reflect a hallmark Lagerfeld look—whether that was Karl's own personal style through elegant ties, crisp shirts, and blazers, or the repeating use of pearls, bows, and tweeds in his collections.
The best dressed men of the evening made strong, on-theme fashion statements. A larger-than-life representation of Lagerfeld could be seen on the carpet thanks to Jeremy Pope's extra-long Balmain cloak and train. Also appearing in Karl Lagerfeld as one of the designer's iconic Chanel brides—or rather, his own unique interpretation of one—was model-actor Alton Mason. Jordan Roth also transformed into a human fan while donning an unique Schiaparelli outfit; the fan silhouette was a tribute to Lagerfeld's symbolic piece of clothing.
