One of the most awaited films of last year was director Kabir Khan’s ’83. The film is a biopic on the life of Kapil Dev and narrates the lead up to India’s World Cup win of 1983. The film stars Ranveer Singh in the lead with actors like Saqib Saleem, Angad Bedi, Harrdy Sandhu and more in pivotal roles as other eminent cricketers from the time. The film also has a cameo by Deepika Padukone who portrays the role of Romi Dev, Kapil Dev’s wife.
Talking of the release date, the film was initially supposed to release in April 2020 but the pandemic sure delayed play. Now, with the theatres reopening, speculation was that the film will be one of the very firsts to hit the big screen but reposts suggest otherwise. The latest on the release is that the production house is looking for a June date.
Owing to the lockdown in UK, the filmmakers have decided to wait a little more so that the film reaches the maximum audience involved. Also, since this is a cricket biopic, the filmmakers want it to release in all countries that have an international cricket market.
