The coronavirus pandemic put the entire Indian film industry to a complete halt. While some films had to stop shooting mid way, some had to put their releases on an indefinite hold. But, as the government implements easing up the lockdown, it seems like Bollywood too will soon be returning back to life. Many production houses are looking to resume shooting but will be doing so in Hyderabad instead of Mumbai.
Veteran producer and Ramanaidu Studio owner Suresh Babu spoke to a leading daily and revealed that he has been approached by several Bollywood filmmakers to rent out their studio. He said, “Producers want their team isolated together during shoots to mitigate risk of infection. When you are filming in your city, you’d want to return home to your family, which is why makers are looking at locations outside the state.”
He further added, “My son Rana (Daggubati) is close to Sajid (Nadiadwala) and Karan (Johar). If they need anything, as studio owners we will go out of our way for them. This is not the time for balance sheets but to help the fraternity move forward.”
Well, the low coronavirus case count down South surely is a big factor which is tempting Bollywood production houses to consider this option. Let’s hope that the people in charge can find a solution and pending films can go back on floors.
