Deepika Padukone has etched her name firmly in everyone's heart. The actress who tied the knot with actor, Ranveer Singh, is balancing both work and married life rather beautifully. She's super successful today, but her film journey started with its own share of ups and downs initially.
In a recent interview with a magazine, Deepika gave everyone a glimpse into her work life and the choices she made. The actress also jogged down the memory lane talking about her debut film, Om Shanti Om and the challenges she had to face reaching where she has today.
Deepika let out the fact that she wasn't auditioned for her role in Om Shanti Om. And when she asked her director, Farah Khan about this decision, Farah had told her that she just went by her gut feeling and casted Deepika for the role.
According to Deepika, it was a huge thing for her to be cast in a film like Om Shanti Om back then. Especially because she had no prior film experience, and she was cast without any of the usual checks that one goes through before being cast in a big film or endless rounds of auditions. That, said Deepika, was surreal for her. It saved her many years of having to prove herself.
But it also had a flip side. It resulted in her having to go through a slump, as Deepika had to learn the craft while she graduated from one film to another. It took her a couple of years to get her act right and achieve whatever she has achieved today - a place of confidence, of comfort, of familiarity. But all's well that ends well.
Deepika also highlighted the fact that she made some wrong choices in her journey. She also went through her share of unsuccessful experiences. However, the actress has no regrets, whatsoever. And today, Deepika said, she's in a place where she trusts her instincts and thinks she wouldn't have made it if she hadn’t been through those experiences.
We couldn't agree more, Deepika!
