Earlier slated for a March 15 release, Ajay Devgn’s De De Pyaar De now has a new release date. The film will be hitting the screens on May 17. The decision was taken in order to avoid a clash with Ajay's other release – Total Dhamaal. The latter hits the screens on February 22, which is nearly 20 days before De De Pyaar De. A source informed Mumbai Mirror, “It is not good for business to have two films featuring the same actor release within a span of 20 days. With the earlier date, there would have been an overlap in marketing campaigns.”
Confirming the same, Ankur Garg told Mumbai Mirror, “De De Pyaar De is a commercial entertainer and deserves a good release date and we don’t think Total Dhamaal and our film should release within 15 to 20 days of each other. May 17 is a good date.”
The film marks Ajay Devgn’s return to the rom-com genre, which is almost eight years after Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji. Interestingly, De De Pyaar De will be clashing with Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra’s Jabariya Jodi. Produced by Ekta Kapoor, Jabariya Jodi too is a rom-com, which is based on the tradition of groom kidnapping, prevalent in Bihar.
