Being in the news for all the right reasons, Ali Abbas Zafar directorial Bharat stars Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles. Soon after the film was announced, Disha Patani came on board for the project and reports of the film being a two-heroine project started doing rounds on the internet. It was later that director Zafar clarified and mentioned that Bharat is a film that tracks the journey of a man and a nation, simultaneously.
On casting Disha, Ali said, “The story spans over 65 years, and every role in the film is important. The idea is to make a movie with many special characters. I narrated the entire story to Disha before I signed her on. She said that she will do the film irrespective of her part in it, because it is a beautiful story. She also added that the film is more important than anybody’s role.”
Commenting on the debate of a script vs actor, Ali shared, “Even big actors get excited about great content in the mainstream space. So, I can’t take something that’s substandard to any of the top stars. Every Friday becomes a career-defining moment. When the expectations are higher, the challenge becomes that much bigger.”
Other than Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Disha Patani, Bharat also stars Tabu and Sunil Grover in important roles.
