The long debate around nepotism notwithstanding, some star kids are geared to make their dream debuts this year. Joining the likes of Janhvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan and Ishaan Khatter is the late Amrish Puri’s grandson, Vardhan Puri. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the young actor will be making his debut in a romantic thriller produced by Jayantilal Gada.

As per the report, the romantic thriller will be shot in the northern parts of India and will go on floors in September this year. The film’s leading lady and director are yet to be finalised. Vardhan has assisted Habib Faisal on Ishaqzaade and Daawat-e-Ishq and Maneesh Sharma on Shuddh Desi Romance. On his project, Vardhan told Mumbai Mirror, “I was supposed to start off with a period-drama with Jayanti Bhai, but for some reason, that didn’t work out. He approached me later for this film, which I loved and immediately gave my nod to.”

Talking about the influence of the brilliant Amrish Puri, the young actor said, “Dadu is the God whom I pray to. I was so close to him that I would sleep between my grandmother and him. When he passed away, it was like losing the protective cover of an umbrella. It was then, that I decided that if I do something, it would be for my grandfather and this film is an ode to him.” Vardhan mentions Virasat, Ghatak, Mr India and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge as his all-time favourite films of his granddad.
